Fashion Post 11/12/2015

So I have been overly dedicated to just reading lately and nobody I mean nobody will make me feel bad about it. However I have been neglecting other subjects that I do like to cover on my blog. So in the hope of doing something to add some sass to my blog and switch things up here is a little fashion post. There is no specific occasion for it I just really casual outfits &  a lot of my wardrobe is love of timeless pieces that can be worn differently and year after year no matter what. So here is one I really enjoyed putting together on Polyvore. Enjoy!!!

Wow... A totally rollercoaster of EMOTIONS. First off Bravo because I have yet to read a book in just a males POV. Not that I am against it but because I have read others that the POV was in both the female & male but not one where it was just male. I found it really easy to read from just Bren's POV. This book had me confused, anxious, broken hearted, angry, pissed, sad, helpless then rewind & repeat all those emotions AGAIN. That to me is a masterpiece in its own. I wanted to hug Bren and slap Amanda but I guess I can also sympathize with her in the fact that its true. Fear can sometimes rationalize things that just aren't! So we meet Bren this hot Aussie (did I mention I love accents?! well i do and when there is one then I am in love!!!) who has big plans. He is about to graduate and already has his own business set to launch. He has only fallen in love twice. One of the times being recently with a girl who he lost out to and was friend zoned and the other an old flame named Amanda. When you hear him talk about Amanda you immediately know that its something he only thinks is over. But things are not OVER. When he receives a text from her out of the blue he immediately is packing his things to go see her because he knows it must be serious. When he gets there well his world is flipped on its axis and he is met with things that he never knew he would have to deal with. He has to reevaluate everything. Has obstacles to take on that no one should never have to. This story was beautiful and had me full of all kinds of feels!!!
Thank for the opportunity to have read this. I will be picking up the prior book and can't wait for the next.
P.S. I read this book in 1 day!!!

This book will be available on October 22, 2015

Is it possible to give a book more then 5 because if so I would vote for ALL 10. This book was MORE. So much more then what I thought. It was completely heart felt and gave you those teeny tiny butterflies in my stomach. Madeline was such a unique character. For someone who has never been outside due to her illness she is extremely knowledgeable of the WORLD. She knows more about what is around us then we do ourselves. She sees Olly moving in next door and she instantly feels a connection. I wouldn't say that it was like total Love I think it was also the fact that he was (what she assumed) the same age as her and for someone who can't be around anyone you can't help but be drawn to them. It was the spark to set everything in motion for Madelines world to come in full color but also to crumble. The interaction that you see through emails & messaging & on the window was absolute genius. I loved her own little pictures of what she imagined in her head. I specially loved that fact that Madelines favorite book was The Little Prince because it just so happens to be mine. She may not have gone anywhere but to her books helped her travel the world. There were so many things that I felt i could relate to with Madeline. This was a ride and it was beautiful and I can see why its such an anticipated book for 2015. I am not surprised that the books rights were bought to hopefully make a movie. I for one look forward to it! Happy reading to everyone! also thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this book. It was wow amazing, fantastic, & everything nice in this world.

Weekly Book Review: July 8th 2015

Now and Then (Now, #1)Now and Then by Brenda Rothert

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Now and Then (Now Series)

I was recommended this book from Amazon & I absolutely enjoyed it very much. I loved the characters and the fact that the characters had history and their very own personal conflict that they had to endure and grow from to then be able to come together and grow together as well. It was wonderful and I just loved the whole journey that they took. Its awesome to have a character who is used to being in the background come out on top and see their self worth. I loved it and enjoyed it!

Book Review: "Where The Road Takes Me" by Jay Mclean

Where the Road Takes MeWhere the Road Takes Me by Jay McLean
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

**I was gifted with an ARC of this book for my honest review**

WOW... So I was able to finish this book in about 2 or 3 days. This book pulled me in from the prologue. THE PROLOGUE people. I couldn't put it down. But of course we do need sleep as human beings and I am a mom of 2 kids so life happens.

So lets talk my thoughts before I started this book. I thought it would be about this couple that just go on the road together. That they just up & left for the purpose of just wanting to. Which did intrigue me I love very random spur of the moment events like that in a book. But to my surprise that wasn't the case and it was actually SO much better.

The conflict and the whole story within itself is so consuming. You feel for Chloe and for Blake and even Josh. I loved their way of clicking. How people so different and in different places in their life can still find a common ground was so beautiful. You appreciate everything. There were times when Chloe really did make me upset but at the same its part of her story. We cant ask for perfect characters. They wouldn't be lovable if they were perfect. Its the imperfections that make them more approachable or in this case relatable. I loved this whole story and Blake wow... He has became a new Book Boyfriend to add to my list. I have no shame in saying that. Thank you for that epilogue. Nowadays so many books either don't have an epilogue or leave with this rushed ending that your kind of left with questions and I didn't feel that at all. I was completely happy with it. Thank you for letting me read this.

I definitley recommend adding this book to your "TO BE READ" list... as a matter of fact if you CLICK HERE you will be taken to the contest entry to win a copy of this book. SOOO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!!!!

Healthy Attitude & Look Books!

"A healthy attitude is contagious but don't wait to catch it from others. Be a carrier." - Tom Stoppard

That quote above seems to pretty much summarize where my mind has been the last month or so. I know i tend to take a lot of breaks in between my posts but to be honest my intentions for this Blog are not to post on a daily or weekly basis. It was more of a leisure time posting. So I'm sorry if they are not as frequent as you would like but I can guarantee that they will be monthly! :) so heyyyy thats good news right.

So updates on life... My last blog post was actually pretty popular and y'all really enjoyed it. I think thats really funny and I am glad that little questionnaires like that are still entertaining. I love to read them from other people. To me its like going to the book store and just getting an idea of the book by just looking at the cover and reading the back of it. Its enough info about it to entice you into reading it but without giving too much away.

Back in May I did a little modeling & makeup for a photo shoot for Swallows Heart. If you don't know what Swallows Heart is its basically minimalistic handmade jewelry pieces and its now my obsession! So we did a Look Book for her summer pieces and it was ton of fun. The scenery was beautiful and as scared as Meghan & I were about modeling our friend Sophia from Sophia Jordan Photography literally helped us look like we knew what we were doing. It turned out pretty damn good if I do say so myself.... you can click on the picture below and it will take you to the full Look Book!
Swallows Heart Summer 2014 Look Book

We are now planning for a Fall Look Book which I'm pretty stoked about because anyone that knows me knows that I LOVE FALL! (did you notice the all caps lol) I love Fall of all seasons. For many reasons... so here are just a few!

REASONS WHY I LOVE FALL:
  1. Its not too hot & not too cold
  2. its soo pretty outside
  3. boots
  4. layers (I love layering clothing)
  5. scarfs
  6. dark lipstick (yes you read that right dark lipstick is a must in the fall and well its been something I have loved to rock since I was like 10 years old!)
  7. tan no more ( in high school i used to be obsessed with tanning but the older I have gotten I have learned to appreciate pale skin and to also love it! if it means no wrinkles then I am down(
  8. Fall candles (i am a very aromatic person and i love smelling candles & scents!)
  9. watching the awesome movie specials on Fox Family
  10. Lastly but certainly not least COLLEGE FOOTBALL! (I am obsessed with college football and have been for years!!)
Anyways in June I decided to make a decision for myself. I needed to do something to make sure I led a healthier life for my family and I took it upon myself to join in the 21 Day Fix Challenge by Beach Body. My friend Erin had talked to me about it for quite sometime & i finally decided that it was time for me to do something about my body and health. My challenge consisted of portioned eating & working out. I started my challenge on July 7th and my last day was July 27th.

So let me be honest in my expectations from this challenge before I tell you how the rest of my journey on the challenge went. Before I started the challenge I didn't want to loose weight. I weigh on average 125. So to me its never been about the numbers on the scale. I am 5 foot so to me I felt like my weight was not really the issue. My main concentration was to work on my core. I had two prior cessarian so after being cut in half twice my abdominal muscles have never really gone back to what they were. Which I am very accepting of. I know that pregnancy will change things and they may not ever be the same but I needed to do something about it because I was not happy with it. I use to wear bathing suits and hated how the center of my belly jiggled and my legs too. I used to have a muscular body and I knew that if I could get my mind at a place where I wouldn't give up then I could do it! I didn't want to loose anything but gain muscle more then anything. So then comes challenge day and i start eating my meals the way I'm supposed to. The challenge packet said I'm supposed to eat 6 times a day and I will admit that I would get like 5 meals. I still struggle to get all 6 but as long as I'm eating healthy than I will continue to work towards my goal. By that first weekend I had put my bathing suit on again and already I could feel that my body was not jiggling like it used to. We took pictures every sunday to do our comparison.

Day before I started my challenge
Day 7
Day 14
Day 21

As you can see the progress is there.  I am still not where I want to be but I am getting there. I am on my 2nd round of 21 Day Fix and I have added Piyo to my work outs. I can definitely tell you that I am overall happier with everything. It takes time to get the results you want but I am more then willing to put in the hard work to get to my goal. I am loving that working out (after I have finished the work out of course!) and the clean eating as well. I think people really do get the wrong misconception about eating healthy. Everyone thinks that your eating just a few small meals and that its not tasty and in reality its delicious you jut gotta know what spices you can add and how to just make everything your own. Anyways I will continue to update y'all with my progress and your more then welcome to go check my profile out on the beach body site.

Disappearing Act

OH HELLO BLOG-OSPHERE!!!

So I should be ashamed of myself. Its been 3 or 4 weeks since I last posted a blog and well I am totally ashamed. (insert virtual slap in the face)

So the happenings of the last few weeks have been insanely hectic. Last I posted my parents were coming into town so as you can guess I was spending time with them and yes thats partially why I did not post a blog & why I haven't even done a youtube video. Also within those weeks both my husband & son had surgery.

Its been a great few weeks having family here but at the same time it was hard because I knew they had to go back and we still miss the whole rest of the family as well. We have a very close nit and loving family. We have so much fun together. I know its very cliche because everyone says it but I really do mean it. We went from having access to all of our family this time last year and seeing everyone everyday to not having any of them close by anymore. But hey its the Army life right?!

My daughter Angelina had her Kindergarten graduation & we were able to take my parents hiking and to Chena Hot Springs & around our little town here. They really enjoyed it and thought it was beautiful. Which it is... If your ever able to visit Alaska do it in the summer its absolutely gorgeous! Here are a few pictures of our awesome happenings...
Here is my daughter at her graduation!

Took a hike and got some awesome shots!

Got to go to Chena & look at the Ice Museum

Santa Clause House in North Pole

Also this past weekend I ran The Color Run 5K. It was a whole lot of fun. Its my 2nd time running a 5K. I do it for the simple fact that its something that I enjoy and I know I don't suck at. lol! Not that it counts now but I did run track in Highschool. I always saw running as just something I am mentally good at. Lets face it its just a mind game anyways. You tell yourself its too long and you end up quitting but if you pace yourself and just tell yourself not much longer keep your breathing steady then you push yourself.

Anyways I am again sorry that I have been away for so long I will have lots of fun post going up specially with summer here and lots of fun things to do here in Alaska! By now I have put up a new video on my youtube channel so go check that out!

Oh before I forget a little book update: I am currently reading the last book in the Vampire Academy series The Last Sacrifice & An Abundance of Katherines. I said I was reading these before and I took a pause from those 2 because I had to re-read City of Lost Souls and then read the highly anticipated 6th & final book in The Mortal Instruments series City of Heavenly Fire. Thinking of doing a video on What have I read 6 month update... hmmm maybe!

Busy Bee & Parentals!

So my fellow friends here we meet again at another blog entry and honestly i feel like its a very boring one. So an early warning for you & I will insert apology... NOW " Im sorry!"
This week has been an extremely busy week & as I am typing this for y'all I am literally only an hour and a half away from seeing my parents. Excited is an understatement right now. Next month would have been a year since I seen my parents so this visit is long long overdue!!! I have missed them sooo much!!!!
This the last picture of me with my parents & my brother as well at the airport before I left on my journey to AHHHHHHHH-LASKA!

So besides getting ready for their visit this week it has also been my daughters last week of Gymnastics & they had a show today that they put on for all the parents. She had been practicing this week specially because she wanted to get the moves down packed. She is so cute and boy was it exciting just to see her face after she performed. It wasn't even about me being proud of her because let be honest I was over the moon proud of her but she was proud of herself. Seeing her being proud of herself made me even more proud of her. I want to really instill this self gratification in her. I believe that the happiest people are those who know their self worth and do things for themselves because they know they can. Its not that she should be selfish I just want her to know that she can achieve anything on her own because she knows she can.

Here is my awesome daughter right before she performed & my husband! :)

Also as I am typing this cool doubly dooo my friend Johnny & I are talking about starting a collaboration blog together. It will definitely have a lot more content and honestly I am starting to find my solace in writing again (or typing in this case) but basically putting my thoughts down on some kind of media. I am far from being the best writer but for me its just soothing. So that pretty exciting!!! we will have lots fun stuff and once details are final I will link it here so that y'all can go & check it out!

Lastly another super cool thing that happened this week was that I was a part of a collab photo shoot with my friend Meghan & Sophia. So here is the super rad thing about these 2 ladies. Meghan makes jewelry for her shop on Etsy called Swallows Heart and if your not already a fan of her stuff well then you will be. I am obsessed with her jewelry. Its so unique and I am all about unique & stylish pieces. Then there is Sophia who is a photographer & she is absolutely talented. So here is the thing I am not a model and i don't like to smile. Its not because I'm not happy its because I just have always felt like I have a fake smile. Sophia totally had me actually laughing and it looked natural she took hold of the shoot and no matter how I look in the picture I gotta give her all the modeling credit because she totally told what to do right down to my fingers and she is truly talented! i can't wait to see these pictures. I was the makeup artist for the shoot so its showcasing a few things all in the one. Sophia's editorial side, Meghan's gorgeous jewelry, and my makeup and I couldn't be happier. Cant wait to post all the photos when they are finally done! Cross your fingers for something soon!!!!! here is just a little taste of my Thursday night! :)

I am linking both Meghan's Jewelry shop & Facebook page here & also Sophia's photography page!

Check those out for some awesome work!!!

Anyways guys I have to get back to enjoying my family. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend & also coming up week! Stay Awesome!!!

XoXo,
Sherley
